Start with the finished motorcycle
The best donor is the one that supports the desired stance, wheels, riding position and use. Classic R nineT, Pure, Scrambler and Urban G/S differ in equipment and proportions across production years. A model name alone does not specify every fork, wheel, brake, electronics or emissions detail.
What should be compared?
Before buying, record the exact model, year and VIN-based equipment; then compare wheel and tyre sizes, front and rear suspension, brakes, tank and seat arrangement, electrical interfaces and the condition of the specific bike. Changes between Euro 3, 4 and 5 versions can matter to parts and wiring. Price of the donor is only one part of the finished-build cost.
Does an R 12 nineT belong in the same parts list?
No. The R 12 generation needs its own fitment and design review. A product tested on the previous R nineT family should not be described as R 12 compatible without a separate check.
How does Diamond Atelier choose?
Our Urban21 shows one interpretation of the earlier BMW R nineT. A commissioned build starts with the rider's intended use and a moodboard, then the donor is selected around the design. We accept a small number of projects and typically plan at least 12 months ahead. Tell us what your motorcycle should feel like.
