BMW R nineT & R 12 suspension: where to start

A model-specific route from sag and riding load to Wilbers × Diamond Atelier suspension for R nineT and R 12 riders.

Do you need a new suspension unit?

First assess the existing motorcycle: rider and luggage weight, tyres, intended roads, available adjustments, unloaded and rider sag and usable travel. Symptoms such as harshness, wallowing or insufficient support have different causes. Adjustment and maintenance may solve some of them.

What changes when ride height changes?

A different rear shock or spring can alter sag and dynamic geometry. Seat height, chassis attitude, chain or shaft angles, front/rear balance and clearances must be checked as a system. A higher rear is not automatically a better ride.

What does Diamond Atelier offer?

Wilbers × Diamond Atelier suspension solutions are available by individual configuration for the R nineT family and the R 12 generation. We treat the older R nineT models and R 12 models separately when checking parts and geometry. Exact component type, settings and fit are determined for the named bike rather than advertised as one universal specification.

How does a request begin?

Send the model designation, year, current suspension, rider weight with equipment, passenger or luggage load, tyres, use and what feels wrong. A photo and existing settings help. We can then propose a suitable Wilbers × Diamond Atelier configuration.
