What is the packaging problem?
Removing the original airbox and simplifying a BMW two-valve boxer makes every electrical component more visible. The answer is not simply to push everything under the tank: the steering movement, tank tunnel, heat, moisture, cable service and future access all matter. A clean silhouette must still be a maintainable electrical system.
Where does Diamond Atelier place the mo.unit?
Our BMW Airhead projects use a dedicated carrier under the tank for a suitable motogadget mo.unit. The position is planned together with the tank, harness, battery and ignition rather than chosen after the motorcycle is assembled. Clearances and accessible connectors are checked on the actual bike. See our battery and electronics layout.
What moves to the gearbox area?
Diamond Atelier has built a dedicated electronics plate above the gearbox to relocate components that would otherwise crowd the tank area. In proven combinations it carries the Silent Hektik ignition control and associated coil; the original charging regulator and horn can be considered in the packaging plan. We document the exact ignition variant, component position, heat exposure, routing and service access for the individual project.
Can every ignition and coil share one plate?
No universal claim follows from an existing build. Different systems have their own electrical and thermal requirements. We have repeatedly built a specific joint arrangement, while published component instructions may specify separation or cooling conditions. A repeat installation is assessed against the actual parts and the measured layout; it is not advertised as a universal plug-in bracket.
What is offered?
The under-tank carrier and gearbox plate are Diamond Atelier solutions, with the individual build determining exact fit and scope. A separate shop kit requires a model and component matrix before it can be sold with a reliable fitment claim. For a complete electrical concept, send us the motorcycle model, tank, ignition and planned components.
Questions behind this article
Owners repeatedly ask about mo.unit placement and ignition control and coil position. Those discussions are starting points for an individual engineering review.
