Why can a carburetor move?
The carburetor relies on its intake stub, rubber connection, clamps and airbox-side support. If it can rotate or sag, inspect the mechanical attachment before adjusting mixture screws. A loosened cylinder-head intake stub or damaged rubber sleeve can allow unmetered air.
Why does the engine run differently when warm?
Heat changes clearances and the behaviour of a leak. An intake fault may appear as unstable idle or uneven running, but ignition, valve clearance, fuel delivery and carburetor condition can produce similar symptoms. Compare cylinders and verify the basic engine state rather than tuning around a mechanical fault.
What should be inspected?
With the engine safe and cool, check the head-to-stub joint, rubber condition, clamp seating and the way the carburetor is supported. Replace damaged parts with correct model-specific components. A qualified technician can then test for intake leaks and synchronise the carburetors after the connection is sound.
Is there a Diamond Atelier product for this?
We have not specified a universal repair part or separate carburetor service here. This article is a diagnosis guide for owners of BMW 2V motorcycles; it is not a substitute for inspecting the bike. For broader build decisions, see our BMW Airhead guide.
Questions behind this article
The recurring question appears in loose R100 intake discussions and uneven cylinder temperature discussions.
